Course Objective

To understand the historical development of the Turkish language by examining the basic texts of the Old Turkish period and to recognize the linguistic features of these texts.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Recognizes the Old Turkish period and its basic features. 2   Analyzes the Gokturk Inscriptions, Uyghur texts and Karakhanid period works. 3   Compares the word and language structure in Old Turkish texts with modern Turkish. 4   Evaluates the cultural and literary elements in historical texts. 5   Can analyze the Old Turkish writing systems and language structure.
