Course Objective

The aim of this course is to present the historical development of the scientific study of language and to provide students with a conceptual and theoretical perspective for future linguistic analyses.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Explain the historical evolution of the scientific study of language.
2   Compare linguistic theories and approaches that emerged in different periods.
3   Evaluate the philosophical, social, and technological context of linguistic thought.
4   Establish a foundation for current language analysis methods.
5   Develop a critical and analytical perspective for future language research.
