Course Objective

Aim of the course is to give information and to have them hold a view about lexical semantics and sentence semantics of Turkish by means of analyzing the examples and teaching history, basic terms and principles, types of semantics and semantic changes.

3   To analyse the synchronic and diachronic examples of semantic changes
4   To know the features of lexical semantic of Turkish language

5 Statical semantics and developmental/dynamic semantics
6 Language, word, sign, concept, meaning, extension

8 Synonymy, homonymy, antonymy; polysemy
9 Semantic field and semantic change
10 To repeat the general grammar rules.
11 Semantic changes (semantic extension, semantic restriction etc.)
12 Metaphor, metonymy and simile representation
13 Word and sentence analyzing
14 Final exam
