Course Objective

The aim of this course is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the historical development, theoretical foundations, ethical and legal considerations, and professional requirements of clinical mental health counseling. The course also aims to develop students knowledge and skills regarding multicultural counseling, clinical practice settings, and future trends in the field, adopting an integrative and culturally sensitive perspective.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1. Define the scope and historical development of clinical mental health counseling.
2   2. Evaluate the theoretical foundations of the field, including both traditional and contemporary approaches.
3   3. Identify ethical principles, legal responsibilities, educational requirements, and professional competencies in clinical counseling.
4   4. Compare various clinical practice settings and models of mental health service delivery.Students will be able to assess effectiveness of counseling and guidance services in various setting
5   5. Analyze clinical counseling processes from a multicultural perspective and discuss emerging issues and trends in the field.
