Course Objective

The aim of this course is to enable the students to acquire the topic `idioms in German linguistics and the proverbs and phrases in common use of German.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To acquire the term "Phraseologismus" in German linguistics and structural, functional and semantic characteristics of the proverbs and phrases in German language
2   Ability to learn the proverbs in common use of German and to explain the meanings
3   Ability to learn the phrases in common use of German and to explain the meanings.
4   Ability to indicate the lingual and cultural similarities and distinctions of the idioms in Turkish and German language
5   Ability to recognize the problems of equivalence in oral culture of both languages and the problems in the field of translation.
