Course Objective

In this course, students are aimed to gain knowledge, skills and competence about introduction to the game; definitions and concepts related to educational game and gamification; game history, psychology and behavior theorems; gamer types; reward types; types of entertainment; single and group games; game elements; game mechanics; game flow and motivation types; behavioral cycles and models; gamification models (Werbach-Octalysis); gamification measurement; sample game applications; gamification design with gamification cards in an educational context.

1   To explain the fundamental definitions and concepts related to game, educational game and gamification.
2   To compare types of gamer, reward and entertainment.
3   To explain psychological and behavioural effects of games.
4   To explain elements and mechanics of games.
5   To develop sample game applications.
