Course Objective

To use a program developed for database management for storing, retrieving, grouping and listing information according to some criteria, and updating it and to create SQL expressions.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to state the advantages of database management systems
2   To be able to use ACCESS database management system
3   To be able to know SQL expressions.
4   To be able to use MySql database management system
5   To be able to develop and manage a database management system on the web

2 A global look to ACCESS objects, tables, forms, reports, pages, macros, moduls
3 Creating a database, understanding the logic of using a database, creating tables, defining fields and their features, data types
4 Defining relations between tables, entering data to tables, importing and exporting data
5 Creating forms and questions
6 Creating reports and pages
7 Mid-term
8 Creating Macro and Modul
9 Intro to SQL language, CREATE, ALTER TABLE, DROP TABLE, DESCRIBE, INSERT, SELECT, UPDATE, DELETE
10 Operators, ORDER BY and DISTINCT
11 Functions, SUM, AVG, MIN, MAX, COUNT
12 Grouping, GROUP BY , HAVING, Joining, JOIN
13 Setting up MySQL, its interface and usage, creating a database, creating a table, defining fields and their features, data types
