Course Objective

Within the scope of this course, it is aimed for preservice teachers to possess (have) knowledge of concepts on map; map preparation techniques; map types and map areas of usage; and map and map use in social sciences education and to internalize map use applications in the teaching of spatial perception skill; and application examples for drawing map and for efficient use of map in the teaching.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Understand and interpret maps.
2   Describe projection methods. Possesses knowledge on map types and map areas of usage.
3   Knows concepts on map and map use in social science education.
4   Addresses map use applications in the teaching of spatial perception skill.
5   Possesses knowledge on map preparation and map drawing techniques.
6   Examines application examples for efficient use of map in the teaching.
7   Draw map onto acetate-tracing paper with pencil and on computer environment via programmes such as ArcGIS, ArcMap, NetCAD etc., according to map drawing rules.
