Course Objective

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Defines the general structure and classification system of Ottoman archival sources. 2   Distinguishes between key document types (ferman, berat, arz, telhis, etc.). 3   Can read and summarize documents using Ottoman paleography. 4   Analyzes documents within their historical context. 5   Gains knowledge about methods and ethical rules in archival research.
