Course Objective

The aim of this course is for students to learn the period described as the classical Ottoman period in the literature from political, economic, legal and social perspectives.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Explain the emergence of the Ottoman Principality.
2   Explain and discuss the relationships with Byzantine and Anatolian principalities in early period.
3   Comment on the conquest of Istanbul and reorganization of state by Fatih.
4   Explain the formation of the grooming and kul systems.
5   Show the expansion areas of the Ottoman Empire on the map.
