Course Objective

Learning the tourism phenomenon and the tourism in Türkiye

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To learn tourism and recreation concepts, to learn the differences and similarities between tourism and recreation
2   To learn types of tourism according to a variety of perspectives
3   Learning organizations and institutions related to tourism
4   To learn the natural, historical and cultural attractiveness and the effects of tourism in Türkiye
5   To learn approach to sustainable tourism and eco-tourism
6   To learn the effects of tourism and its role in development, to learn the development and potential of tourism in Türkiye.

Course Contents

1 The descriptions related to tourism sector, recreation concept and varieties, distinctive characteristics of recreational activities from tourism activities
2 The definitions and concepts of tourism, tourist and visitor, the main titles of the tourism varieties.
3 Tourism types according to purpose and tourist number
4 To learn the tourism types according to selected time, social characteristics, income level and social status, transport, organization and accommodation type.
5 International and national tourism organizations, tourism facilities and tourism business types
6 Plans related to tourism and tourism planning, tourism-related laws
7 Tourism and conservation. National parks, natural monuments, nature parks, nature conservation areas, special environmental protection areas, special conservation areas

9 The motivations which start and affect tourism activities
10 The natural attractiveness of Türkiye tourism (climate, sea, land forms and vegetation)
11 The natural attractiveness of Türkiye (climate, sea, land forms and vegetation). Tourism accommodation in Türkiye. Incoming tourism / outgoing tourism
12 Domestic tourism in Türkiye. Türkiye's historical and cultural tourism attractiveness. Inter-regional differences in Türkiye tourism. Effects of tourism in Türkiye
