Course Objective

The aim of this course is to develop an awareness of the nature of science, to learn the stages involved in the construction of scientific knowledge, to gain an understanding of the historical relationship between science and technology, and to create an environment that fosters innovative thinking.

1   Discussing the purpose and characteristics of science.
2   Expressing basic discourses of important schools of philosophy of science.
3   Assessing the impact of science philosophical debates on the development of science.
4   Discussing the nature, structure and characteristics of scientific knowledge.
5   Discussing the nature of scientific methods.
6   Establishing the nature of science and the science-technology-society-environment relationship.
7   Designing activities in teaching nature.

The homeworks will be assessed by directly adding to the mid-term scores. The exam dates will be indicated in the lesson plan. As the exam dates become definite, the previously announced dates may change.

Assessment Criteria

The assessment of students is carried out through midterm and final exams in line with the learning outcomes.

It is obligated to continue to at least 70% of lessons.
Every trial to copying will be finalized with disciplinary proceedings.
The instructor has right to make quizzes. The scores obtained from quizzes will be directly added to exam scores.
