Course Objective

Course Objective:
The aim of this course is to understand the fundamental etiological agents of infectious diseases, their diagnosis and differential diagnosis, and the basic principles of treatment.
Additionally, the course aims to review the normal structure and function of the organs related to hearing and balance, to recognize diseases associated with these systems, to learn how to perform an ear, nose, and throat (ENT) examination, and to understand the diagnosis and treatment of common upper respiratory tract infections.
Moreover, students will gain an understanding of the normal anatomical structure of the eye, the functions of ocular tissues, the physiology of vision, and the differential diagnosis of conditions that cause visual impairment and red eye.

Assessment Criteria

To be eligible to take the exam, students must:
Participate in at least 70% of the theoretical activities.
Participate in at least 80% of the block practicals and/or laboratory work.
Complete practical, laboratory, and similar intra-year work related to the block within the allotted timeframe.
Students who fail to meet all of these requirements must repeat that block or internship.

For the student's exam results to be valid:
A grade of 60 (sixty) or higher must be achieved in the end-of-task process evaluation for at least 70% of the tasks in the relevant block. Otherwise, the block will be repeated.
To calculate the end-of-block grade, the end-of-task evaluation average must be 60 (sixty), and the NÖKS and theoretical evaluation scores must each be at least 55 (fifty-five).
To pass the block, the block success grade must be at least 60 (sixty).

The student's final grade is calculated out of 100 (one hundred), with the following:
25% of the final task process evaluation grade point average,
25% of the NÖKS grade,
50% of the theoretical exam grade.
