Course Objective

To enable students to acquire information about the structure and functions of cells, which are the smallest building blocks of the human body.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Ability to explain the application areas of recombinant DNA technology and biotechnology in medicine
2   To be able to explain the general features and related mechanisms of RNA and protein synthesis.
3   Ability to define the concepts of sterilization, disinfection and antisepsis
4   To be able to explain how DNA damage occurs in the cell and its consequences. To be able to discuss how DNA damage is repaired within the cell.
5   Ability to perform IM and SC injections
6   Ability to define cell types, structure, basic functions, molecular and cellular mechanisms
7   Ability to define the basic concepts of immunology and the host's general defense mechanisms. Ability to explain antimicrobial effects and resistance mechanisms
8   Ability to explain the structural features and virulence mechanisms of microorganisms
9   To be aware of ethical issues and medical ethics in history and today. Being able to establish the relationship between health and law
10   Ability to explain carbohydrate metabolism and its regulation. Ability to explain the structure and metabolic functions of mitochondria
11   Explain the basic concepts of Generative Artificial Intelligence List the advantages and disadvantages of the general use of Generative Artificial Intelligence

End of block grade = Theoretical exam (100%)
Proficiency is taken for Professional Skills, Field Studies, Medical Skills and Values and Professional Values and Ethical Practices.

Assessment Criteria


In the first 3 years, the student success was evaluated on a yearly basis as an annual grade out of 100 points. The passing point of the period is determined as 60 (sixty).

The Intra-Year Success Grade Point Average (YBN) must be at least 50 (fifty) points.
