Course Objective

This course aims to introduce the linguistic structure and cultural characteristics of pre-Islamic Turkic societies in historical, philological, and sociocultural contexts. Students will become familiar with written and oral sources of the period and understand the relationship between language evolution and cultural elements.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Can explain the linguistic and cultural structures of pre-Islamic Turkic societies.
2   Identifies and analyzes written and oral sources from the era.
3   Evaluates the historical development of Old Turkic.
4   Interprets mythological, epic, and religious texts within their cultural context.
5   Compares linguistic features of the era with Modern Turkish.
6   Analyzes the foundations of Turkish cultural history using scholarly methods.
