Course Objective

The aim of this course is to examine how language emerged in the course of evolution, how the human species developed linguistic capacity, and to explore various approaches to the biological, cognitive, and cultural evolution of language.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Define key theories related to the evolution of language.
2   Explain the differences between human language and animal communication.
3   Analyze language development through cognitive and neuroscientific approaches.
4   Evaluate the relationship between evolutionary biology and language.
5   Discuss the cultural role of language in evolutionary history.
