Course Objective

The aim of this course is for students to define Modernism, an art and philosophy movement that emerged in the early 20th century through its history, and to examine all branches of art and its reflections in design. Its relationship with previous art movements, the new art it wanted to create and its effect on subsequent artistic formations will be examined through modernist art and design works, and what has been learned through modernist attempts will be reinforced.
Other aim of this course is for students to define Postmodernism, an art and philosophy movement that emerged to differentiate itself from modernism and to destroy it through its history, and all branches of art and to examine its reflections in design. Its relationship with previous art movements, the new art it wanted to create and its effect on subsequent artistic formations will be examined through postmodernist art and design works, and what has been learned through postmodernist attempts will be reinforced.
