Course Objective

The aim of this course is for students to introduce 2d painting techniques like printing, digital manipulations, collage, de-collage, dripping besides basic drawing, coloring and material knowledge (one or more than one technique on painting surface). Examining the master's visual / painting techniques in the past. Finding new ways of expression with unique and new techniques by using transparent / opaque colors and paint layers. Presenting of the new techniques of museums , presentation, health and safety conditions.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Knows different materials and techniques using on the painting surface and can apply.
2   Gains the theoretical knowledge to percept and interpret artworks technically.
3   Gains the ability of using the most suitable technique or techniques by reflecting personal differences and creativity.
4   Knows how to protect artworks, polishing.
5   Knows museums examining and presenting techniques, health and printing conditions.

1 Coloring Materials 1: Watercolor, gouache, tempera, acrylic and their applications.
2 Coloring Materials 2: Oil painting and its history. Sample artwork presentation. Protecting painting, varnishing.
3 Coloring Materials 2: Oil paintings and its application.
4 Printmaking: Relief printing, engraving, lithography, silkscreen printing, their history and applications.
5 Computer and painting. Project Digital Manipulation.
6 Museums technical examinations, health and security conditions.
