Course Objective

The objective of this course is to provide students fundamental knowledge about microorganisms that cause diseases in animals, their modes of transmission, diagnostic methods, and control strategies. The course aims to enable students to understand the epidemiological characteristics of bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic agents, comprehend the mechanisms of outbreak development, and evaluate these within the framework of preventive medicine principles. Accordingly, students will acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for the recognition, prevention, and control of infectious diseases encountered in clinical, laboratory, and field settings.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Explain the spesific characteristics of microorganisms causing diseases in animals.
2   Recognise the modes of transmission of bacterial agents.
3   Apply basic diagnostic approaches used in microbiology and epidemiology.
4   Analyse the mechanisms of outbreak occurrence and spread.
5   Evaluate infectious diseases within the framework of preventive medicine principles.
6   Demonstrate the ability to contribute to the recognition, prevention, and control of infectious diseases in clinical, laboratory, and field practices.
