Course Objective

The aim of this course is to analyze the position of women in political life within a historical and theoretical context and to interpret political thought in Turkey from a women's perspective. The course will focus on concepts such as politics, power, and democracy to discuss women s political representation, levels of participation, and the inequalities in this field, examining the forms of women's engagement in political life in Turkey from a historical point of view.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   At the end of this course, students will be able to: 1) Analyze the historical development of women's political participation in Turkey.
2   2) Discuss the relationship between political representation and gender from a theoretical perspective.
3   3) Gain a critical perspective on the field.
4   4) Compare approaches to women's representation in political parties.
5   5) Evaluate the effects of political systems in Turkey on women's representation.
