Course Objective |
This course explores the period in Turkish cinema known as Yeşilçam, spanning from the 1950s to the 1990s, within its socio-political and cultural contexts. It examines the relationship between Turkey s modernization process and film production, with a particular focus on the cultural implications of Turkish modernity. The films discussed in the course will be analyzed in relation to the social conditions of their time, through themes such as identity, migration, class, urbanization, and gender. Within this framework, the course aims to critically investigate how the narrative forms and aesthetic choices of the Yeşilçam era were shaped by the economic, political, and cultural dynamics of the period. |
