Course Objective

This course aims to help students understand how artworks are represented in museums, how the spatial structures of museums gain meaning in a societal context, and how art shapes social structures.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Exploring the representation of art in the museum environment and the different dimensions that museums add to art.
2   Understanding the function of museums as spaces and explaining their role in societal and cultural contexts.
3   Understanding the practice of curating in museums and grasping the processes of exhibition organization.
4   Analyzing the role of museums in social change and cultural transformation.
5   Evaluating the ways in which art movements and periods are represented in museums.
