Course Objective

Exploring the structural and expressive representation of three-dimensional shaping elements.
Understanding the aesthetic and psychological effects of three-dimensional shaping elements.
Developing technical proficiency in the use of different materials.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Investigating the aesthetic, psychological, and symbolic effects of three- dimensional shaping elements and developing application skills.
2   Gaining the ability to interpret three-dimensional shaping elements with different materials and techniques.
3   Developing awareness and understanding, through applied projects, of how three-dimensional shaping elements add spatial depth and plastic value to design with different forms of expression, making the material visible.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Introduction to the Three-Dimensional Forming 2 11. Sketch model study for Course and sharing the material list.
2 Art historical seminar on various sculpture and installation practices. (Information on the application project and initiation of the sketching process)
3 Sketching phase for the application project within the context of various concepts determined each term.
4 Implementation of selected sketches at their original scales.
5 Seminar on Color Intensity and information on adapting a two-dimensional image into a three- dimensional form.
6 Model-making phase for the three-dimensional adaptation of the selected two-dimensional image.
7 Application of the sketch model into the final original result.
8 Seminar on Open-Closed Form and Composition. (Sharing the material list for the application project.)
9 Sketch model study for the open form application.
10 Application of the selected sketch model into its final original result.
11 Sketch model study for the closed form application.
12 Application of the selected sketch model into its final original result.
13 Sketch studies for three-dimensional forming of a figurative image using cardboard material.
14 Finalization of the three-dimensional forming project of a figurative image using cardboard material.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The course is conducted through the production of visual presentations based on weekly schedules and practice projects that are planned in accordance with the course learning outcomes, carried out in the studio under the guidance of the course instructors.
