Course Objective

The aim of this course is for students to explore the structural and expressive aspects of color, understand its psychological effects, and develop technical proficiency in using materials of different colors.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Being able to have the knowledge to explore the psychological, emotional, dramatic, and symbolic effects of color.
2   Gaining the ability to apply theoretical knowledge about color in their work.
3   Being able to understand, through practical projects, that color gives spatial impact to design, adds plastic value, and makes the forms and shapes used visible, and being able to apply this knowledge.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 1.Information about the Color 2 course, sharing of the material list.
2 2.Presentation on color application examples such as landscape, self-portrait, and animal images. Material list for the application project.
3 3. Color research studies based on the selected visual.
4 4. Visual presentation on the relationship between color and light-shadow, details of the application project.
5 5. Sketch design process for the application.
6 6. Finalizing the project. Material and material list for the new project.
7 7.Presentation on still life with visuals from art history. Information about the material list and application project.
8 8.Presentation on the use of gouache and soft pastels, and a colorful still life study created with organic and inorganic materials.
9 9. Visual selections for color analysis.
10 10. Completion works for color analysis.
11 11.Seminar on the photorealism process, color and material usage, photo shooting process for the application project.
12 12. Application process using colorful free materials based on the selected photo.
13 13. Presentation on collage-assemblage techniques and material information for the collage application project.
14 14. Collage project application.

It is carried out through visual presentations created for weekly programs and practical projects planned in accordance with the course outcomes, which are produced under the guidance of the course instructors within the workshop.

Assessment Criteria

The practical projects conducted throughout the semester are graded by a jury created by the course instructors using a 100-point system, and the final grade is determined by calculating the average.

Minimum attendance of 80% required.
Adherence to the pre-determined assignment/presentation and project submission schedule.
