Course Objective |
The aim of this course is to provide the students with the abilities to identify the sound production methods, define timbral characteristics and playing techniques of musical instruments as well as the ability of physically analyzing the instruments at first sight and perceiving musical ensembles. |

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods |
Active engagement in coursework, participation in daily activities, and performance in group tasks are assessed as components of class participation and are reflected in the student s final grade. For each course and each student, daily performance scores are systematically recorded. These scores are subsequently organized to construct a performance distribution curve, which is incorporated into the overall academic evaluation at the end of the term. |

Further Notes About Assessment Methods |
Investigative and participatory learning and teaching methods will be applied in order to learn and understand the melodic, rhythmic, historical, timbral, physical and organizational characteristics of musical instruments. |
Assessment Criteria |
Midterm and final examinations are evaluated on a scale of 100, with the point value of each question explicitly stated. Each student is required to prepare at least one term paper. A preparation period of two weeks is granted for assignments; submissions not delivered within this timeframe shall be deemed unsuccessful. |

Course Policies and Rules |
Class participation, active involvement in class, problem solving skills, active participation in the applications and skills in evaluating the results are the main requirements for the course. Late arrivals after the first ten minutes will not be permitted and the student will be considered as not available. |
