Course Objective

The aim of the training program is to enhance the knowledge level of auxiliary personnel working in the sector regarding contemporary practices, thereby contributing to the improvement of service quality.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Understands the duties and importance of the dental assistant. 2   Defines the recording of patient data, including dental and medical information. 3   Defines the instruments, devices, and basic consumable materials used in dentistry. 4   Understands the preparation of the patient for dental radiography. 5   Explains the protective measures during dental radiography. 6   Defines sterilization and disinfection in dentistry.

Week Subject Description 1 Basic concepts and materials in dentistry 2 Duties and importance of the dental assistant 3 Fundamental principles of sterilization and disinfection 4 Patient records, recording dental and medical information 5 Equipment, instruments, and basic consumables used in the dental office 6 Maintenance and care of dental office equipment and instruments 7 Preparation of patients and materials required for treatment 8 Preparing patients for dental radiographs and implementing protective measures 9 Sterilization and disinfection in dentistry 10 Infection control and cross-contamination prevention 11 Office supplies management 12 Patient appointment and time management 13 Patient reception and record-keeping 14 Functioning of the dental office

Assessment Criteria

The course grade is determined by calculating 40% of the midterm examination and 60% of the final examination. A resit examination is administered for students who do not pass.
