Course Objective

The aim is to teach dentistry students restorative treatment methods and applications in the clinical setting and to enable them to gain competence in restorative case management.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Makes diagnosis and treatment planning for the patient.
2   Applies amalgam restorations on patients' teeth.
3   Applies composite restorations on patients' teeth.
4   Performs desensitization treatments on the patient.

1 Clinical asepsis, patient communication, patient safety, and ethical principles
2 Patient anamnesis, clinical assessment, and radiographic evaluation
3 Diagnosis of active carious lesionand preventive dentistry applications
4 Application of adhesive systems
5 Clinical applications of composite resin, amalgam, and glass ionomer restorations
6 Esthetic restorative techniques
7 Management of dentin hypersensitivity
8 Clinical case planning and case management

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

1. The practical course will be conducted for the entire class in groups.
2. Each group will receive a total of four weeks (eighty hours) of practical training in the Restorative Dentistry Clinic throughout the academic year.

Assessment Criteria

Students are expected to successfully complete a total of 40 clinical procedures in accordance with clinical guidelines, comprising 35 restorations, 3 preventive dentistry applications, and 2 patient anamneses.
