Course Objective

Identifies normal occlusion and malocclusions in clinical practice.
Performs preventive and interceptive orthodontic treatments.
Diagnoses malocclusions together with their etiological factors.
Determines the correct timing for malocclusion treatments.
Explains the importance of TMJ stability in orthodontic treatments.
Describes different application methods of orthodontic treatments, evaluates multidisciplinary treatment approaches, and discusses modern orthodontic treatment techniques.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Performs clinical observation during orthodontic patient examination.
2   Identifies basic anomalies during an orthodontic patient examination.
3   Takes measurements at the patient's chair.
4   Applies the obtained measurements in clinical evaluation.
5   Identifies key points in cephalometric analysis.
6   Performs the necessary measurements in cephalometric analysis.
7   Calculates Bolton and Hays-Nance analyses from the obtained measurements.
8   Interprets Bolton and Hays-Nance analyses based on the obtained measurements.
9   Prepares the retentive elements of orthodontic appliances using basic bending techniques.
10   Integrates the data obtained during orthodontic treatment planning and presents recommendations.
11   Evaluates doctor-patient communication during clinical observation to develop ethical and professional behavior.
