Course Objective

The aim of this course is to enable the performance of clinical practices in pediatric dentistry.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Recognizes systemic diseases observed in children.
2   Interprets periodontal diseases observed in children.
3   Understands traumatic injuries and their treatments.
4   Interprets occlusal guidance in primary and permanent dentition.
5   Applies space maintainers and pediatric prostheses.
6   Interprets pathologies developing in primary and permanent dentition.
7   Applies restorative treatments in children.
8   Applies endodontic treatments in children.

2 Performing oral and radiographic examinations in pediatric patients.
3 Carrying out restorative procedures in pediatric patients.
4 Performing tooth extractions in pediatric patients.
5 Applying space maintainers in pediatric patients.
6 Performing endodontic treatments in pediatric patients.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

1-The practice lesson will be given to the entire class in groups.

2-Each group will receive a total of 4 weeks (80 hours) of practice training in the pedodontic clinic throughout the academic year.
The student performs the necessary examinations and evaluations of a randomly assigned patient, establishes the diagnosis, and completes the treatment plan. Subsequently, these procedures are re-evaluated by faculty members and assistants, and the student is provided with the necessary feedback and guidance.

Assessment Criteria

The clinical evaluation grade is calculated by taking 40% of the clinical assessment score and 60% of the clinical practice score.
