Course Objective

This course aims to equip students with the ability to distinguish between normal occlusion and malocclusions in the clinical setting, acquire the skills to perform interceptive and preventive orthodontic treatments, develop the competence to diagnose malocclusions along with their causes, learn the appropriate timing for malocclusion treatment, understand the importance of TMJ stability in orthodontic treatments, and gain knowledge about different orthodontic treatment approaches, multidisciplinary treatment strategies, and modern orthodontic methods.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Performs accurate measurement techniques at the patient s chair in a clinical setting.
2   Takes and records the necessary measurements from the patient s cephalometric radiograph.
3   Conducts Bolton and Hays-Nance analyses based on the obtained measurements.
4   Understands the bending techniques of the appliance s retentive elements.
5   Applies the bending techniques to the appliance s retentive elements.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

1- The practical course will be given to the entire class in groups
2- Each group will receive a total of 4 weeks (80 hours) of practical training at the orthodontic clinic throughout the academic year.
