Course Objective

This course aims to teach the indications for periodontal surgery, treatment methods, suture techniques and materials, wound healing, the identification and treatment of furcation lesions, and the peri-implant tissues, their diseases, and treatment options.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Recognizes the general and specific indications for periodontal surgery.
2   Recognizes the various surgical procedures applied to treat periodontitis.
3   Recognizes different suture materials and suturing techniques used in periodontal operations.
4   Can define furcation lesions and recognizes the various regenerative procedures applied in their treatment.
5   Recognizes treatment methods for intrabony pockets.
6   Recognizes mucogingival surgical procedures and understands which mucogingival surgery should be applied in specific situations.
7   Lists treatment protocols for various periodontal diseases.
8   Recognizes the differences and similarities between peri-implant and periodontal tissues.
9   Recognizes the classification of peri-implant diseases and their treatment options.

1- List the methods, indications and contraindications of surgical periodontal treatment
2- Counts the hand tools used in periodontal surgery methods
3- List the different suture techniques in periodontal surgery.
4- Counts the intraosseous defects, specifies the regenerative methods.
5- Lists the indications of mucogingival surgery.
6-Knows and counts the differences of peri-implant tissues from periodontal tissue.
