Course Objective

It is aimed to provide students with fundamental knowledge of oral, dental, and maxillofacial surgery.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Explains the role of oral and maxillofacial surgery in dentistry and its relationship with other disciplines.
2   Examines the dental treatment processes of individuals with systemic diseases according to risk factors.
3   Performs the necessary clinical and radiological assessment prior to tooth extraction.
4   Defines the basic instruments used in oral and maxillofacial surgery and their purposes of use.
5   Theoretically explains all the steps that must be followed in the application of basic surgical techniques.
6   Analyzes complications encountered during surgical procedures and develops an appropriate management plan.
7   Determines the appropriate surgical approach in different patient groups (pregnant women, children, HIV-positive individuals, etc.).
8   Distinguishes incision, suture, biopsy, and autotransplantation techniques according to their indications.
