Course Objective

This is a two-semester multidisciplinary course intended to provide the student competency in a thorough oral examination and the preventive dental care of children and adolescents.

1   Explains the fundamental principles of being a good physician.
2   Defines health and disease concepts.
3   Evaluates individual, social, environmental, and structural determinants of health.
4   Explains the concepts and stages of health protection.
5   Explains the functions of health-promoting institutions.
6   Defines oral and dental health.
7   Applies oral hygiene methods.
8   Performs oral examination and oral hygiene education.
9   Uses dental floss and introduces oral care products.
10   Discusses preventive dentistry practices in case-based learning.
