Course Objective

The general aim of the course is to evaluate and assess organizations as social entities that have histories, interests, relations, and systems of practice that shape people and have influences on society. The course provides knowledge on using multiple philosophical and theoretical perspectives in order to understand why they are important, what they are and how they operate.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Gain a deeper understanding of organization in the society.
2   Illustrate the place of organizations in the lives of individuals either as an employee, as a manager or as a stakeholder.
3   Be able to critically assess various approaches to, and claims about organizations in the society
4   Think critically about the taken-for-granted assumptions regarding the nature of the organizations.
5   Gain a comprehension of emerging trends regarding organization.
6   Develop oral/written communication skills, to articulate and defend one's position.

1. The students will evaluate multiple perspectives regarding the organization concept.
2. The students will assess the role of the different organizations in the society.
3. The students will comprehend the differences among varying theoretical approaches regarding the nature of the organization, people and society relationship.
4. The students will be aware of recent theoretical discussions and practical applications regarding organizations.
