Course Objective

This course aims to equip pre-service teachers with theoretical knowledge about historical evidence, local and oral history, sources and research methods, as well as practical knowledge that will enable them to carry out teaching activities based on these topics in their own classrooms.

1   To be able to recognize historical evidence, local and oral history studies in theoretical dimension
2   To be able to comprehend the characteristics of historical evidence, local and oral history studies
3   To be able to evaluate the qualities of historical evidence, local and oral history studies
4   To be able to use historical evidence, local and oral history for teaching purposes in social studies course

1 Definition of historical evidence, oral history and local history
2 Place and importance of historical evidence, oral history and local history in social studies teaching
3 Teaching social studies based on historical evidence, oral history and local history: Examples from qualified studies
4 Oral history topics and resources that can be used in teaching social studies
5 The issues to be taken into consideration in the preparation of interview questions and the implementation of the interview; preparation of sample interview questions
6 The issues to be considered in the implementation and evaluation of an oral history study in social studies course
7 Preparing a lesson plan based on oral history
8 General review, course evaluation and midterm exam
9 Historical evidence and local history
10 Local history topics and resources that can be used in in social studies teaching
11 The issues to be taken into consideration during the planning phase of a local history study to be carried out in social studies course
12 The issues to be considered in the implementation and evaluation of a local history study in social studies course
13 Preparing a lesson plan based on local history
