Course Objective

The aim of this course is to provide students a thorough understanding of supply chain management and why it is important to learn supply chain management and logistics. This course is concerned with managing the flow of goods and information through a production or distribution network, encompassing all stages from the supplier to the customer.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Demonstrate an understanding of the conceptual framework of supply chain management, supply chain business processes and the different organizations that participate in supply chains in order to identify the components of supply chain and their interactions.
2   Demonstrate an understanding of the role of information systems and technology in supply chain management and logistics to comprehend the usage of new information technologies and electronic commerce in supply chain management.
3   Recognize the role of logistics management within supply chain management in order to identify the strategic importance of logistics to achieving business success by creating value throughout supply chains.
4   Interpret supply chain management cases and articles in order to integrate theories and concepts to real business applications.
5   Improve oral and written communication skills through class discussions and presentations.
