Course Objective

Teaching students how to apply the pattern to bowl s form and preparing the paint of the bowls using with pigments (colorants) for the production of Miletos bowl known as ceramics of Iznik Early Ottoman period

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Learn trowing a bowl that a traditional production methods
2   Make Miletos form that is traditional usage bowls as a periodic point using trowing a bowl
3   Explain the processing steps of transporting pattern to forming surface
4   Decorate the form of bowls using slip technique.
5   Reach a sufficient level about glazing and firing stages

4 Teaching the methods of trowing a bowl and discussion about the subject of project.

8 Production of bowl forms using clay wheel and retouching techniques

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

In this course, after determining the typology of bowl forms called Miletos, the technical drawings will be prepared by students as accordance with the actual dimensions. Students will produce their own bowls using clay wheel. Teaching the students how to produce these forms using wheel application studies will be made in a workshop environment. In addition, the subject of project named history of Miletos bowls and their artistic features will be discussed in lesson and students will prepare to present their project folder.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

Students will be given a project concerning the subjects given theoretical. Furthermore, they will make a project studies of the application to show methods. The pass grade will be determined by the commite assesrment grades.

Assessment Criteria

The project studies and the commite assestment will be evaluated out of 100; the 20% of the Assignment/Presentation , the 40% of the project assestment and the 40% of theproject studies will determine the pass grade.

Course Policies and Rules

Students who come from after starting time of the course, even taken to the course, will be evaluated as participant a half-time. At the end of each lecture topics will be covered in the next lesson and the students are offered as a subject of their studies. The course begins before the first presentation of the studies.
