Course Objective

This course intends to aid in conceiving organization principles of urban space, covering environment-friendly spatial alignment tools for quality of life and further experiencing use of design principles on a case study area to be determined.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To define concept of urban space and determine those factors that define space (conception)
2   To analyze various examples for quality of urban space (conception and analysis)
3   To interpret urban design projects (implementation) and bring positive or negative critiques (analysis)
4   To evaluate and develop principles of organizing urban space (evaluation and syntesis)
5   To analyze existing system frameworks on a given case (analysis), to make designs (application).

Assessment Criteria

Defining and determining activities (conception), covering various cases on quality of urban space, their analysis (conception and analysis) and critiques (application and analysis) will be measured by the final exam and development of urban spatial analysis and organization principles (evaluation and design) will be measured by term papers.

Course Policies and Rules

This course will be held as lectures and visual presentations. The topics will be further focused in related term papers, where the conception level of students can be tested. Furthermore, topics discussed in lectures will be further studied as term papers and conception level of students will be examined.
