Course Objective

Corse objective is to provide, for Computer Engineering students, necessary system theory knowledge and minimal back-ground about electronic circuits.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Apprehend the process of idealization necessary for modeling.
2   Grasp the fundamental physics explaining solid-state electronics and semi-conductor junctions.
3   Solve basic electronics circuits by using analytical methods.
4   Analyze linear electrical circuits by employing linear algebraic equation systems.
5   Relate physical systems and their mathematical models.

1 Introduction to Circuit Theory, Kirchoff's Current and Voltage Laws (KCL-KVL), Ohm's Law
2 KCL-KVL, Ohm's Law
3 Resistive Circuits, Node Voltage and Mesh Current Methods
4 Superposition, Norton-thevenin Equivalents
5 Inductance and Capacitance, 1st Order Systems (RL & RC circuits)
6 2nd Order Systems (RLC Circuits)
7 Sinosoidal Steady-State Analysis
8 Empedance
9 Solving Example Questions. Midterm Exam.
10 Semi-conductors. p-n junctions and studying their mathematical models.
11 Diodes, Zener Diodes
12 Bipolar Junction Transistors
13 Junction Field Effect Transistor and MOSFETS. Basic digital memory models.
14 Analyzing electronic circuits by using linear approximate transistor models. / Op.Amps
