Course Objective

In this course students are in the process, the basic statistical concepts and techniques of scientific research achievements will receive the recognition and use.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Scientific Research: Understanding the importance of statistical methods.
2   Basic statistical information.
3   Recognize and use of statistical measures
4   To use statistical package programs.
5   Scientific research to choose the appropriate statistical techniques.
6   .Tables to show the findings of statistical analysis techniques.
7   Used statistical techniques to interpret the findings of scientific research.

Course Contents

1 Statistics and Research: Basic Concepts (variable, population, sample, etc.) Accumulation, distribution and dimensions of the relationship overview.
2 Computer use and applications of statistics: SPSS (data entry, program, operating system)
3 Statistical Measures: Relationship Dimensions (simple and partial correlation)
4 Statistical Measures: Relationship Dimensions (simple linear regression analysis)
5 Some of the statistics used in analysis of reliability and validity of the tests.
6 Structural equation model: Confirmatory Factor Analysis (LISREL computer program)
7 Testing Differences Between Means: T-Tests
8 Testing Differences Between Means: T-Tests
9 Testing Differences Between Means: The F tests (two-factor anova)
10 Testing Differences Between Means: The F tests (two-factor ANOVA for repeated measures mixed)
11 Single-factor analysis of covariance
12 Differences Between Means Testing: Post-Hoc Multiple Comparison Tests
13 Nonparametric Tests: Chi-square, U, C, and Wilcoxson Tests
14 Computer Software Packages outcomes reporting.
15 Final exam

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

The homeworks will be assessed by directly adding to the term work scores in semester. The exam dates will be indicated in the lesson plan. As the exam dates become definite, the previously announced dates may change.

Assessment Criteria

In-class participation and written homework, end-of-semester final homework and short report presentation.

1. It is obligated to continue to at least 70% of lessons .
2. Behaviours such as copying in exams, clashing and making intials in the publications will be concluded with the opening of a disciplinary investigation.
3. The instructor has right to make quizzes. The scores obtained from quizzes and term work scores will be directly added to exam scores.
